Combat Sound Redesign - Battlefield V

I redesigned all audio for this Battlefield V cinematic trailer. I wanted to blend realism with the hyper-realism of modern gaming combat. The gunshots are punchy and the explosions are aggressive, but without sacrificing the small details like footsteps in the sand, ocean lapping at the beach, or the metal creaking of the boat’s gate.

How It’s Made - Songs for Twitch (2023)

One of the projects I’m regularly hired for is to take clips from Twitch streamers and turn them into songs. I’m usually presented with a clip of a streamer saying or singing something, and I have to clean up the background noise, isolate the voice, manipulate the tempo/rhythm of the voice, process the voice with pitch correction, then compose a song based around the vocal. I write the music, record the instruments, then EQ and compress the voice from the Twitch clip to have it sit properly with the music. Here’s a short breakdown on how I do it.

Golden Glory (2023)

Golden Glory is a fun, retro-style side-scroller Sea of Thieves fan game that uses my 8-bit Sea of Thieves music. I arranged and recorded an 8-bit style medley of Robin Beanland’s original Sea of Thieves music using original Serum and Massive synthesizer patches to emulate the sounds of an NES. I also used plugins and personal recordings of sounds taken directly from original Nintendo and Game Boy sound chips. I adhered to the strict technical limitations of the original NES which allowed for only three musical voices and a noise track to be played simultaneously. These limitations encouraged me to get creative with the arrangement to create something uniquely authentic to the original NES while maintaining the charm and flavor of Robin Beanland’s original compositions. I recorded and mixed this project using Avid Pro Tools.

And here is the medley in full.

Spell Sound Effects Redesign - Hogwarts Legacy

Here is an audio redesign I created for the game Hogwarts Legacy. In this short clip, I completely redesigned four magic sound effects from scratch. I created new Serum synthesis patches and layered new audio recordings with sounds from my personal sound effects libraries. My goal was to create sounds that matched the visuals of the in-game spells, but that also accurately told the story of a magic fight that increased in intensity over this four-spell combo attack. I also wanted to create varied sounds to match the different class of spell being cast – arcane, lightning, ice (freezing), and ice (breaking). I created these effects using Avid Pro Tools and Reaper.

Wettuce - Main Theme Song (2023)

I composed the theme song to the PC & Mobile game Wettuce. I designed original synthesizer patches for Serum, Phase Plant, and Massive to emulate the sound of an original Nintendo Entertainment System, and adhered to specific melodic and harmonic standards to give the song a distinctive 80’s game sound.

Drina & Sava (2022)

A melodic, thoughtful indie-rock album featuring nine original songs.

I was the composer, performer (guitar, bass, drums, piano, keys, vocals), recording engineer, and mix engineer.

Arrakis Awakening: Music Inspired by Frank Herbert’s Dune (2019)

Here are a few selections from a music album I wrote, performed, recorded, and mixed called Arrakis Awakening: Music Inspired by Frank Herbert’s Dune. I have always been enamored by story-driven audio, so I composed a 24-track album that follows the plot and character development of the sci-fi novel. I used evolving character themes and leitmotifs combined with changing orchestration and reharmonization to represent character arcs, plot changes, and to show the relationship between different characters and events. I weaved together traditional orchestral instruments with Middle Eastern and East Asian folk instruments, synthesizers, and original sound design to create musical stories of love, loss, and war. I recorded and mixed the album using Avid Pro Tools.
